- Official presentation of the recommendations
On Thursday, 25 June, the first Citizens' Assembly of the City of Esch concluded with the official handover of its recommendations to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Nearly 100 people attended the event at City Hall, marking the culmination of several months of collective work involving 40 residents who were randomly selected to reflect the diversity of Esch's population.
During the evening, the participants presented the key recommendations they had developed in response to the following question:
"How can the City of Esch rethink its public and social spaces to strengthen community life among current and future inhabitants?"
The recommendations, which can be downloaded from this article, were then officially presented to Mayor Christian Weis. In his address, he praised the commitment of the Assembly members and reaffirmed the City's determination to carefully examine the proposals submitted.
The evening also provided an opportunity for an open exchange between the Assembly members, the Mayor and the audience. Participants were able to ask questions about the next steps of the process and how their recommendations will be reviewed and considered by the City.
The ceremony was livestreamed, highlighting the valuable work carried out by the participants and demonstrating the importance of citizen participation in shaping the future of Esch-sur-Alzette.
The City warmly thanks the 40 members of the Citizens' Assembly for their commitment, as well as all the partners who contributed to the success of this first edition.
